PROCESS KH

a theatre performance by Hanna Kalo and Katia Skylar

PROCESS KH is a visual and raw exploration of negative self-talk - the ugly, and surprisingly common inner monologues we face in our lives. How does the mind react to our behaviour? Is there a way to move from painful self-destructive thoughts to self-compassion?*

Performance contains staged violence and multilingual spoken word (English, Finnish and Russian. It can be also easily adapted to different languages).

Devised and performed by:
Katia Skylar, actress (FIA), performance artist
Hanna Kalo, psychologist (PsM), performance artist

*Multiple studies have been made on self-compassion, self-criticism, and their connection to human well-being. Harsh self-criticism activates our sympathetic nervous system and elevates stress hormones. This can be so intense that it stops us from learning and being resilient in the face of failure: we become defensive and tend to isolate ourselves from others. Learning to be more self-compassionate yields a number of health benefits, including lower levels of anxiety and depression as well as a strengthened feeling of connection to others.
We want to address this challenge in the performance and offer the audience a healing path to compassion. We want to make quite an abstract and rather heavy scientific concept to be more accessible to anyone in the audience to experience. We believe that the artistic, theatrical interpretation with a strong emphasis on body language and movement could reach more people than a lecture or an article in a magazine.

Process KH is a work-in-progress. A 15-minutes demo of the show was performed in 2021 in Botta (Helsinki) as a part of Blendi- microtheatre event organized by the Ekata theatre. Premier of a full-length theatre show is planned for the end of 2022.

The Demo version as an independent short piece can be performed at your venue. Don’t hesitate to contact us for booking and more details.
